My Hourly Updates On My Flight (6 Minute Read)
Hello everyone,
This is my live blog.
MY FIRST ENTRY
I have just gotten to Madurai airport and it is quite crowded. There is a flight to Chennai and a flight to Dehli. I will be boarding the second flight in a few minutes. All the stalls are open including food stalls among others. They have distributed face shields that are mandatory on flights and we must wear masks at all times. The washrooms are quite clean and they may even be better than usual. We are taking Air India as our airlines and they adjusted their rules to U.S standards. This meant that we got an extra check-in bag among other things. There is a ribbon that prevents 2 people from sitting next to each other. This includes family so right now I am not sitting next to any of my family members because there is an empty seat in the middle. Some of the stalls have been shut down though. I think it is simply because those stalls chose to not open as there is no pattern in those who have been shut down. Social distancing is being maintained and many safety measures including using the new app made compulsory by our PM are being used. All in all the airport is much safer and cleaner than I had thought. My mother says that the plane will be terrible and I am inclined to agree with her because there will be no TV screens. I will write again soon.
MY SECOND ENTRY
I am on a flight and social distancing is being followed. They made an exception for us since we were a family. Face shields are compulsory at all times and masks must be kept on. Whether or not you want the mask to cover your nose and mouth is your decision though. This picture is an example of what all passengers must be wearing at the least.

The flight was not delayed and was quite prompt. It was also surprisingly cold. Since there is no TV on the flight I have to entertain myself. I am writing on my blog and listening to music while my sister is listening to a podcast. There is no option to get anything to eat on the flight and we have only been given a bottle of water each. I will write again soon. The summary is that the flight was quite good. The second flight is probably going to be bad because it is much longer. I promise to write more soon.
MY THIRD ENTRY
I have landed in Dheli and I am staying in a lounge. We have two rooms so I have one room for myself. It is small and has a toilet in the back. I am still happy to have a room to myself because I have not been able to have that privilege for a very long time. My uncle was able to find somebody who helped us get into this lounge and also helped us to get around the airport and told us all the small things that would stop us from getting things like food. We ate from Subway and it was quite good. There were only three workers to maintain social distancing. I was quite happy with the number of precautions that Dehli airport has in place to stop the spread of the coronavirus. There have been several reminders over the intercom to maintain social distancing and also to download the Aarogya Setu app. There is also no sitting next to another person and there are many markers to show where to stand for many things like picking up your luggage. I will write again on the flight and when I get to the U.S. All in all I am very happy still.
MY FOURTH ENTRY
I have just boarded the flight to Chicago and customs were a lot more intense this time. I was separated from my family and was made to take a seat four rows behind them all. My mother then settled out problems for two people and helped me sit next to them at the same time. When we got on the plane the entertainment screens were on so we tried tapping it. It did not budge and did not seem to respond to anything I did. This was what I had been told would happen and so I was not taken by surprise. Then I tried to use the remote to control the screen. It worked and I tried to go to the game section. When I went to the game section it was simply a black screen. That was why I was watching cartoons and movies on Netflix and Prime Video. I mostly watched "Bakugan: Battle Planet".When I had to go to the bathroom I had to wait for a few minutes to use the toilet and it was hard to keep my balance on the plane. This was quite normal on a plane. Social distancing was not being followed on the flight and everybody was sitting next to each other with no gaps. The upside was that everybody was a little more conscious and wore their masks and face shields full time. All in all, everything was well except for the lack of social distancing. I promise to write more soon.
MY FIFTH ENTRY
I have landed in Chicago airport and the amount of safety is minimal. There are no markers in between the seats although there were many reminders to stay safe and to practice social distancing even though this advice was not really followed as many people grouped together. The customs were much simpler than ever before. They simply let us go after a quick picture scan. I think that this is happening because they realize that we have a hard time getting here and they do not want to make our time harder. We then wait for my father who has come from Raleigh to pick us up. He has come on a flight and he has now getting a car to drive back to Raleigh. It will be long and will take two days but I cannot wait for it. When my father finally arrives, He takes us into the car and we go away. My mother and sister go to sleep quickly but my father and I talk for some time. We then stop for breakfast at an IHOP. We eat pancakes and then leave again. We then stop at Starbucks and eat and then we are on our way again. We then stay in a hotel in a town named Gallipolis in Ohio. I will update you on things like whether to undergo this trip if you are thinking about it and more. I promise to write more.
MY SIXTH ENTRY
I have arrived at my house in Raleigh. It is so good to be home again. I am jet-lagged but I am happy that I was able to get out of it quickly. The house looks to different. For example, we have new curtains. I would totally recommend this journey to anyone who is thinking about it. Even if the flights may not be the best, when you get home it is totally worth the journey. I would also like to talk about the difference in security in the U.S and India. In India, there were temperature checks and everyone had to wear a face shield. They also could not sit together and other things like that. In the U.S we could sit anywhere, There were no temperature checks and face shields were not mandatory. So what I am trying to say is that you should not be scared of the U.S because their security measures are much lighter than India. I will not be typing on this post again. Bye, and I hope this helped somebody.
